Harish and Sachidananda, both affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur, introduce undergraduate students to fundamentals of antennas and wave propagation in this textbook for one-semester courses in electrical, electronics, and communications engineering. Written with a minimal use of mathematical physics and an emphasis on conceptual understanding, the text provides an overview of electromagnetic theory, an explanation of basic concepts of wave propagation, and an introduction to various types of antennas and their radiation characteristics. A large number of exercise problems with varying levels of difficulty are included to reinforce theoretical concepts. It is assumed that the reader has already gone through a basic course on electromagnetics and is familiar with Maxwell's equations, plane waves, reflection and refraction phenomena, and waveguides.
